About the Office
What the Provincial Budget Officer does under the law
The Provincial Budget Office helps the Governor prepare the Province's annual budget and keeps track of how it is carried out. Under the Local Government Code of 1991 (Republic Act No. 7160), the provincial budget officer takes charge of budget preparation, reviews the budget proposals of provincial offices, and advises on budget matters, including the supplemental budgets that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan may enact.
During the year the office records appropriations, allotments and obligations and checks that spending stays within the approved budget. It works with the Provincial Planning and Development Office, the Provincial Treasurer and the Provincial Accountant. The Sangguniang Panlalawigan approves the budget through the appropriation ordinance.
