About the Office
What the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer does under the law
The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) delivers the social welfare programs of the Province of Bukidnon. Under the Local Government Code of 1991 (Republic Act No. 7160), the provincial social welfare and development officer develops and carries out programs and services for the welfare of the poor and vulnerable, including children, youth, women, senior citizens, persons with disability, and indigenous peoples.
The PSWDO works with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and with the social welfare offices of the cities and municipalities. For many walk-in services, those local offices are your first stop.
Programs and Services
Provincial programs in general terms. Many walk-in services start at your city or municipal social welfare office.
Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS)
Help for people in a crisis, such as medical, burial, transportation or food needs. Residents usually apply at the social welfare office of their city or municipality, and may be referred to the PSWDO.
Senior Citizens
Support and referral for senior citizens. Senior citizen IDs and the social pension are processed through the city or municipal offices and the national DSWD.
Persons with Disability
Provincial support for persons with disability and their families. PWD IDs are applied for at the city or municipal office.
Women and Children
Protective services and referral for women and children, including abuse cases. In an emergency call 911 or the police first.
Indigenous Peoples' Welfare
Support for the welfare of Bukidnon's indigenous peoples: the Bukidnon, Higaonon, Talaandig, Manobo, Matigsalug, Tigwahanon and Umayamnon.
Help After Disasters
The PSWDO works with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (PDRRMD) on relief for affected families.
